Levels

Improves contrast so artwork looks cleaner and less washed out.

Best for

Faded uploads, weak blacks, or dull highlights.

Simple steps

  1. Move Input black up until dark parts look solid.
  2. Move Input white down until bright areas pop.
  3. Fine tune Gamma for midtone balance.
  4. Use Output black/white only for final softening.

What each setting means

Input black

Makes shadows darker.

Input white

Makes highlights brighter.

Gamma

Adjusts middle brightness without heavily changing pure black/white.

Output black

Raises the darkest possible black (softer shadow floor).

Output white

Lowers the brightest possible white (softer highlight ceiling).

Apply to alpha channel

Also changes transparency. Usually leave this off.

Helpful tips

  • Use small slider moves.
  • Bad banding usually means changes were too aggressive.
